How The Keg Koozy™ Works:
Kegs are made out of metal, which is not a good insulator. This means that metal easily conveys heat. Without insulation, a keg conveys the heat from the surrounding environment into your beer, causing a rapid warming of the beer.
Neoprene is a form of rubber, which is an excellent insulator. When you zip The Keg Koozy™ around your keg, it stretches and forms an effective insulating surface. Now, the heat from the atmosphere cannot be conveyed to the beer in your Keg, keeping it ice cold for up to 6 hours
Why Not Just Use Ice?
It’s true, putting ice around your keg is another way to keep it cold. However, ice has several disadvantages:
- Ice can be expensive. To ice an entire keg requires four, 20 lb bags of ice. This can run anywhere between $10-$20 for one keg. You can pay for The Keg Koozy™ after only 3 uses.
- Ice melts and can cause a mess. If using ice, you also need a tub or trashcan or hold the keg and catch the water from the melting ice. These can be hard to move, inconvenient, and cost between $10-50.
- Using Ice is Wasteful. It takes energy to make ice each time you use it. Also, oftentimes there is ice left over at the end of using a Keg. The Keg Koozy™ is reusable and will last for many uses, eliminating the need to buy ice each time.
What if my Keg needs to be cold for more than six hours?
We specifically designed The Keg Koozy™ to keep your Beer Cold for six hours, which is the length of time that most events are planned to last (noon-6PM, 6PM-midnight, 8PM-2AM, etc…). If your Keg must be kept cold for a longer period of time, we recommend that you either increase the rate at which you use the Keg and/or find more friends. If these are not an option, we recommend using ice and a 55-gallon tub, which will keep the Keg cold for as long as you continue to place ice in the tub.
Keep it Colder Even Longer:
Without insulation, 33% of your kegs “coldness” is lost in the first 60 minutes after it is removed from refrigeration. You can bring The Keg Koozy™ to the store with you and begin insulating immediately. By insulating the moment the Keg leaves the refrigerator, you can keep your Keg colder even longer.
Construction:
The Keg Koozy™™ is made from 7 mm wetsuit neoprene. It has a heavy duty zipper and nylon taping around all sides. The Keg Koozy™ is designed to be used over and over for your ice cold drinking enjoyment
